West Fork High School is a small, rural, and close-knit high school located in Northwest Arkansas. We serve students in grades 9-12 with a student body of approximately 260 students. Our school enjoys the unwavering support of our dedicated faculty, staff, and the wider community.
Position Summary:
The High School Principal is a dynamic and visionary educational leader responsible for the overall academic success, safety, and well-being of all students. This position requires a collaborative and results-oriented individual who can effectively lead and manage all aspects of school operations, including instruction, student discipline, staff development, community relations, and building maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership:
- Oversee and support all aspects of the instructional program, including curriculum implementation and assessment.
- Lead professional development initiatives, such as professional learning communities (PLCs), to enhance teacher effectiveness and student learning.
- Monitor student academic progress and support teacher response to intervention.
- Promote a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student growth and achievement.
- Provide support to teachers through ongoing walkthrough feedback and formal observations.
- Develop a High Reliability School system.
Student Support:
- Uses the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support systems to promote a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Implement and monitor student support services, such as counseling, guidance, the Alternative Learning Environment, and intervention programs.
- Address student behavioral concerns effectively and equitably within an organized discipline system.
- Advocate for the character development and well-being of all students.
School Operations:
- Manage the school budget effectively and efficiently.
- Oversee building maintenance, safety, and security.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations.
Community Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, and the wider community.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders through various channels (e.g., newsletters, social media, school website, community meetings).
- Foster partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and higher education institutions.
Staff Leadership:
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate school personnel.
- Provide professional development opportunities to build teacher capacity.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Address staff concerns and grievances effectively.
Extracurricular Activities
- Support and help oversee all extracurricular activities, including athletics, clubs, and other student organizations.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students participating in extracurricular activities.
- Attend extracurricular events after hours.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Educational Administration or a related field required.
- Valid state-issued building-level license.
- Proven experience as a successful school administrator (preferably at the high school level).
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes.
- Ability to work effectively with all stakeholders.
- Commitment to student success and school improvement.
