Position Summary
The long-term substitute teacher for Gifted and Talented (GT) is responsible for providing high-quality, continuous instruction to GT students in the absence of the regular teacher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with gifted learners and will follow the established curriculum, instructional model, and professional expectations of the West Fork School District. This is a temporary position, effective from 10/20/2025 to 02/09/2026.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Instructional Delivery: Implement the existing GT curriculum, including lesson plans, projects, and activities that meet the unique academic and social-emotional needs of gifted students. This includes differentiated instruction, inquiry-based learning, and critical thinking exercises.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment that encourages curiosity and intellectual risk-taking.
- Student Support: Provide individual and small-group support to students, addressing their specific learning styles and needs.
- Administrative Tasks: Fulfill all administrative duties typically handled by the regular teacher, including taking attendance, maintaining student records, and grading assignments.
- Professionalism: Collaborate effectively with other teachers, administrators, and staff. Adhere to all school and district policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Prior experience in an educational setting is preferred.
