Job Description:
West Fork High School is seeking a highly qualified and passionate Secondary Math Teacher to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment where all students can achieve mathematical proficiency and develop critical thinking skills. This position involves delivering instruction in various secondary mathematics courses, preparing students for college and career readiness, and contributing positively to our school community. There is also a possible coaching position tied to this teaching role.
Qualifications:
- Arkansas Educator’s License: Must hold a valid Arkansas Educator’s License with a Secondary Mathematics (7-12) endorsement (or equivalent certification allowing teaching of secondary math in Arkansas).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field from an accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Previous teaching experience in a secondary math classroom is preferred, but highly motivated and qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Coaching Experience (Preferred): Prior coaching experience at the school or club level in a relevant sport is preferred for candidates interested in the associated coaching duty.
- Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of the Arkansas Academic Standards for Mathematics and effective instructional strategies.
- Technology Integration: Proficiency in integrating technology (e.g., graphing calculators, educational software, online resources) to enhance math instruction.
- Classroom Management: Strong classroom management skills that promote a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to analyze data and improve student outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned math lessons for assigned secondary courses (e.g., Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus).
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and student needs.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide timely and constructive feedback, and adjust instruction based on data.
- Collaborate with fellow math teachers and other school staff in PLCs to review curriculum, share best practices, and analyze student achievement data.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and academic needs.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by district policy and state law.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and mathematical content.
- Contribute to a positive school culture and actively participate in school-wide initiatives.
- If applicable, serve as a coach for an assigned athletic team, including planning practices, coaching games, and fostering athlete development and sportsmanship.
