Superintendent of Schools

Position Summary: The Superintendent of Schools is responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and effective management of all aspects of the educational system within the West Fork School District. This position requires a dynamic leader with a strong commitment to educational excellence, community engagement, and the success of every school program and every student. The Superintendent reports directly to the Board of Education and collaborates closely with district administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Visionary Leadership:
    • Develop and articulate a clear vision for the district’s educational goals, aligned with the needs and aspirations of the community.
    • Lead strategic planning efforts to enhance student achievement, promote innovation, and ensure continuous improvement.
    • Inspire and empower faculty and staff to achieve excellence in teaching and learning.
  2. Administrative Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the district, including budgeting, finance, personnel management, and facilities.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as board policies and procedures.
    • Collaborate with district administrators to develop and implement effective policies and procedures that support the district’s mission and goals.
  3. Instructional Leadership:
    • Foster a culture of academic excellence and equity, with a focus on supporting the diverse needs of all students.
    • Provide instructional leadership and support to principals, teachers, and other staff members to improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
    • Promote the use of data-driven decision-making to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
  4. Community Engagement:
    • Build strong relationships with parents, community members, local businesses, and other stakeholders to garner support for the district’s goals and initiatives.
    • Communicate regularly with the community through various channels, including meetings, newsletters, social media, and public events.
    • Solicit feedback from stakeholders and incorporate their input into decision-making processes.
  5. Advocacy and Partnerships:
    • Advocate on behalf of the district and its students at the local, state, and national levels to influence education policy and secure necessary resources.
    • Establish partnerships with colleges, universities, businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations to enhance educational opportunities and support student success.
    • Represent the district in professional organizations, conferences, and other forums to stay abreast of best practices and emerging trends in education.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field.
  • Valid state certification or licensure as a district administrator or in the process of obtaining district licensure.
  • Has prior, successful administrative experience in public elementary or secondary schools.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and managing complex educational organizations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
  • Possesses an educational experience background that is sufficiently broad enough so as to include some level of experience in areas including but not limited to; personnel administration, fiscal administration, athletics, curriculum and instruction, public relations and communications, contract administration, interaction with public boards, and other areas as deemed appropriate by the Board.
  • Knowledge of educational laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate others toward shared goals and objectives.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
